I ripped it off a DVD called Video Victim (I think), which was a collection of music videos and stuff from some well known director, whose name I also forget. It's totally Japanese though, so interesting to see a self parody. It was also clearly aimed at a Japanese audience too, as there were no subtitles originally - I had to add them myself.

That was great. It mentioned at the end that was one in a series of instructional videos for Japanese Culture, do you have any of the others? That clip had me laughing out loud, especially the salt bit....

The DVD only had the one. I'm guessing the Japan Culture Lab thing was just for show. I'll look into it though. It did additionally have an airline ad showing the differences between the different classes which was amusing but a bit spread thin.

Haha, that was hilarious. Thanks for th post.

I especially liked the "You must say 'ototo!'" part, the salt dish, and the "secret" sushi types (squirrel :))

Me too. I really liked the "mamamamama" "otototototo" part. It's funny because it's true.

I liked the whole "mada yatteru? mada yatteru? mada yatteru? owasurezuni iimasu" bit and the part about showing a little guilt with your eyes if there's just the one of you. Don't know why people do that, but they do!

Roll up roll up folks, only 13 minutes left!

Does it come with pictures or sound only? *(I had codec errors).

So, any news on if the Japanese Culture Lab and those "other" documentaries were just part of the joke...or is there more laughs out there?

Looks like they don't really exist. There is another on relationships but it goes off at a slightly different angle. That can be found (with English subs) on Jam Films 2.

Just Googled "Sushi documentary" and got about 200 hits all talking about the monster I unleashed.

ETA (added Jam Films 2 thingy)

speaking of this sushi video, i've showed it to all my JTE's and they all loved it. (Who couldn't?)

BUT now i want to show them that video of the 2 japanese people talking in a restaurant about how stupid foriegners are for taking off their shoes and giving up a fork to eat with chopsticks. I thought i had it in my favorites, but i don't see it there. link me please...

The problem with the "bunch o' sushis" one is that it just doesn't work in Japanese. Most people I know that have seen it understand the joke, but just don't see why it's funny.

I heard that there's this thing called the internet and you can, like, search for stuff on it and sometimes you can, like, find what you're looking for and it's hecka sweet.

It got taken off the google video 'cause the original producers started sending badly-worded threatening letters about copyright etc.

I think they are rather clueless about monetizing content but desperately trying to catch up. Expect an official pay-per-view site with a Y10,000 deposit some time when all interest in this video has expired.

But someone was smart enough to copy it here:

Ha ha ha.

I met up with the guy who wrote that letter the other week. He's actually a pretty cool guy, and a biker toboot. Should probably get in touch around payday and get him out on the piss.

Speaking of which, I notice that Mr Bastard is situated in the same Tokyo as me, yet we haven't to date had a beer. Why not?
